There are some notable employment trends, according to The Labour Market Group of Renfrew and Lanark.
Lanark County’s unemployment rate sits at 3.9%, well below the provincial average of 7.6%.
The median age stands at 48.8 years, a full seven and a half years older than the provincial average.
Meanwhile, youth unemploymen in Lanark County has climbed to 13.5%, the highest since 2014, excluding the pandemic years.
Employers cited a lack of applicants as the biggest hiring challenge, even as Lanark County’s population grew by over 10% between 2016 and 2021.
