Carleton Place Treasurer Trisa McConkey provided some good news to council revealing an unbudgeted operationg surplus for 2024 of just under $2.3M. She outlined some of the areas of savings and unexpected revenues.
McConkey suggested putting a good part of the surplus into sewer and water reserves in light of major future expenses.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant argued to hold the surplus in general reserves to discuss it’s use this fall during budget deliberations
Council decided to put the funds into a strategic reserve account and decide how to disperse the funds during next year’s budget discussions.
