A 36-year-old woman has been charged after police stopped an alleged child abduction attempt at Pearson International Airport.
Lanark County OPP began an investigation on April 7th after a local man reported that his wife might be trying to leave the country with their six-year-old son.
With help from the Lanark County Crime Unit, Peel Regional Police and Canada Border Services Agency, officers were able to locate the woman and child at the Toronto airport.
The woman was arrested and returned to Lanark County.
The child was safely returned to his father.
The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 8.
Police say the name of the woman will not be released in order to protect the identity of the child.
The Lanark County OPP is continuing the investigation and reminds the public that safety is a top priority.
