Domestic Violence and Abuse as a Abstract
A special event at Carleton Place Town Hall will explore how basic income could help end the cycle of intimate partner violence.
Hosted by the Lanark Basic Income Network and Lanark County Interval House, the talk begins Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium.
The evening opens with a 10-minute overview of basic income, followed by a powerful firsthand story from Kristine, a survivor of intimate partner violence. She will speak about how financial support could have changed her life.
Senator Kim Pate, a national advocate for basic income and women’s rights, will also share her insights.
Erin Lee, Executive Director of Lanark County Interval House, will close the program with remarks on the link between income security and survivor support.
Organizers hope the event will spark discussion about poverty, safety, and real solutions in Lanark County and beyond.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
