Perth Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson
Perth Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson sat down with myFM news earlier this month to cover some topics that he regularly receives resident feedback on.
The Town’s grants to others program is one that troubles some who don’t want to see any reduction in this funding.
McPherson was quick to point out that the budget line for grants saw no reduction this year. He also stressed that Perth provides more money in relation to the tax base than any other Lanark community.
He also spoke to Mayor Judy Brown’s absences from Council meetings.
This interview was conducted prior to the announcement from the Town last week that Mayor Brown has returned to full-time duties.
On the topic of asset management and infrastructure maintenance he pointed out that engineering reports indicate both the pool and the arena will require replacement by 2035 and Perth’s small tax base won’t come close to covering the costs.
McPherson says the Town is planning on a review and hopes to be able to work with neighbouring municipalities to fund certain recreation projects.
