Michelle Foxton arrives at her watch party in Carleton Place to cheers from supporters
At Lanark Frontenac Liberal Candidate Michelle Foxton’s vote watching event on election night, almost all of the riding’s polls were tabulated and announced before she addressed the assembly of supporters. She said she was waiting for the release of the advanced polls before acknowledging Conservative Incumbent Scott Reid’s victory.
In excess of 30K of just over 90K eligible voters cast their ballots at advanced polls and Michelle was convinced they could make the difference. Elections Canada reported that Michelle garnered 30,397 votes while Scott brought in 33,595 after all polls were tabulated. It was one of the closest races in the riding’s history.
Despite the outcome, Michelle expressed her deep satisfaction with how her campaign played out
It was just after 1 am when Foxton admitted her defeat.
Michelle had nothing but praise and thanks to the over 300 volunteers that worked on her campaign.
