When faced with a major cost overrun for an infrastructure project, Carleton Place town staff were able to negotiate an agreement to save the budget.
Director of Development Services Niki Dwyer provides the history.
Just over $400K was budgeted for the work last year, but no bid was received under $1M. Town staff was able to secure a front-end funding agreement with 2 of the involved developers as Dwyer explains.
The work is expected to take 3-4 months this year and will involve some lane disruptions at the intersection of McNeely Avenue and the entrance to the Independent Grocer. The Town and the 2 developers will recoup some of their costs from any other developers whose projects will benefit from the new sewer main.
