Renfrew OPP are investigating a fatal collision at the nearby Calabogie Motorsports Park Sunday.
Police say a single vehicle collision occurred around 3:30 p.m and took the life of the driver, the lone occupant in the vehicle. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to the track’s website, the May 3rd and 4th weekend included the Perry Performance / Calabogie Racing & Lapping Driving Academy, which has seen over 1,500 student drivers in 15 years at both the advanced and novice level.
The two-day academy is offered once a year and is “designed for drivers to take their track days to the next level or those looking to qualify for their race license. ”
Members of the public are also allowed to sign up and drive around the 20-turn, 2000ft track during dedicated times outside of league races.
Police say no foul play is suspected and they remain investigating.
