Spring hydrant flushing is underway in the Town of Perth, and residents may notice changes in their tap water.
Town staff are flushing hydrants across the community from May 5 to May 9. During this time, water may appear discoloured or experience pressure changes.
Officials say this is normal and temporary.
To clear the water, residents are asked to run a cold water tap until the water flows clear.
The flushing helps keep Perth’s water system clean and running properly, according to Environmental Services staff.
If residents continue to have problems or have questions, they are asked to call 613-267-3311, extension 2221.
The town thanks everyone for their patience during this routine maintenance.
Hydrant flushing is done in the spring and fall to remove any built-up sediment and to make sure the hydrants work well in an emergency.
