On Monday June 2nd the Rural Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) Support Network is hosting their 2nd annual Red Shoes Run at Lower Reach Park in Smiths Falls. Chair Rob More explains where the idea of the red shoe came from.
Rob says the day is so much more than just a run and is aimed at creating support for those affected.
There will be games, a canteen, and student participants from five area schools. Rob notes just showing up will mean so much to those dealing with the disorder.
The Network is hoping to set a record for attendance at a FASD event, setting a bar of 1,000 to top the 930 that came out to a Vancouver event in 2019. Children under 13 participate without cost, 14 and up pay $10. Get your shoes on! Find out more at ruralfasd.ca
