A Canada-Ukraine flag flies in Smiths Falls as a show of support
Smiths Falls has agreed to pursue a twinning agreement with Zolochiv, Ukraine earlier this month.
Mayor Shawn Pankow provides a brief history of the town.
It’s roughly the same size as Smiths Falls but has a pre-war population of 24,000.
It’s know for its food, radio, and light industry and is home to the famous Zolochiv castle.
Pankow says this could lead to a healthy partnership.
He added it’s important to express their support of a town going through war.
Pankow has been in discussion with Zolochiv Mayor Igor Grynkiv, to discuss the partnership.
