The Eastern Ontario Regional Network project is nearing completion.
CEO Jason St. Pierre provided an update on how they’re aiming to eliminate cell gap coverage in Lanark County, which includes 17 new towers.
He says they’re working with stakeholders to develop ways for towers to remain operational during weather events.
While the wide-scale project addressing cell gap coverage in the region will benefit Rogers customers for now, St. Pierre notes there’s room for other carriers to boost their coverage too.
Rogers has fit half the bill of the project’s entirety, committing to at least $150 million.
The Government of Ontario has committed $71 million, with the federal government a tick behind at $70.9 million. Both the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus and Ontario East Municipal Conference have committed $10.1 million to the project.
