After 30 years of running the Franktown Lilac Festival in Beckwith, their organizers have learned a trick or two on how to deal with inclement weather.
Their recent edition on a showery May 24th was no exception as Beckwith Reeve Richard Kidd notes.
Franktown was designated the Lilac Capital of Ontario in 1998. It also has two lilac varieties named after it; the Franktown, white with double florets and the Beckwith variety with its blueish flower. Both were fully out in their resplendent blooms and enticing aromas to the delight of the throngs of residents and visitors alike.
Kidd says the key to the festival’s continued popularity and success is consistency.
Music and talented highland dancers brought smiles to attendees and a wide variety of vendors and food confirmed visitors made the right choice to brave the weather.
