A change in regulations has led to another cost increase for the Confederation Bridge project in Smiths Falls.
Town council approved just under $59,000 in additional funding to upgrade electrical infrastructure on the bridge.
The added cost comes after Hydro One updated its standards, requiring the lighting beneath the bridge to meet new codes.
Despite the unexpected expense, the project is still within its nearly $2.7 million dollar budget — with about $48,000 left over.
