
A Smiths Falls homeowner was shocked to find a man hiding in their shed on Elmsley Street South on May 29.
Police say the man became aggressive and threatened the homeowner with a knife.
Officers arrived around 1:20 p.m. and quickly located the suspect nearby. He was arrested while still in possession of a small knife.
Police have charged 33-year-old Lyle Daye with three counts of uttering threats to cause death and assault with a weapon.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
Smiths Falls Police are reminding the public not to approach anyone acting suspicious on their property. Instead, call 911 immediately for assistance.
