Spirit of the Drum Pow Wow; A Ceremony to Celebrate
The Spirit of the Drum Pow Wow is coming back to Smiths Falls on June 14th and 15th. This ceremony has welcomed and amazed thousands of area residents and visitors in the past and is sure to pack Duck Island again this year. Organizer Josee Bourgois tells us what it’s all about and why Pow Wows are so important to indigenous cultures.
Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow reports there will be more dancers, drummers and vendors than ever and it provides a great opportunity to learn and connect.
Josee asks visitors to bring chairs, hats, water, and whatever they need to enjoy the ceremony in comfort and to not miss the grand entrance which will happen around noon on Saturday. She adds that it’s so much more than just an amazing spectacle.
