Lanark Highlands council looks set to approve video cameras to be installed at the Clyde Memorial Baseball Diamond and Clyde River Park.
They’re two of multiple identified municipal properties with frequent vandalism.
Manager of Facilities & Community Affairs Chelsea Rath says the dugouts were a common spot for vandals, but high fencing has curbed that.
Rath notes it’s another security measure they’re taking to prevent and catch vandals, on top of recently installed lighting.
Signage will also be installed to make people aware the cameras are there.
Those signs are a big part of the deterrence factor, says Deputy Reeve Bill King.
They’ll install eight cameras at the diamond and two at the park for about $2200.
Staff say the diamond and the park are two of a number of properties which see regular vandalism.
The others are the ball diamond in McDonald’s Corners, the arena, and waste sites.
