A sugar maple now stands tall on Memory Lane in Manotick, honouring Dr. Jason Kelly for more than a decade of leadership with the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation (RVCF).
Friends and community members gathered June 22 to celebrate Kelly’s legacy and ongoing role as Past Chair.
The tree, planted by the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA), recognizes his lasting contributions to conservation and environmental leadership in the Rideau watershed.
During his 11-year tenure as RVCF Chair, Kelly helped raise over $5.3 million for local efforts, launched key programs like Species at Risk and Shoreline Naturalization, and oversaw major milestones, including planting six million trees and protecting 15 ecologically significant properties.
Kelly also guided the Foundation through major governance improvements and environmental initiatives, earning several national honours, including the 2025 King Charles III Coronation Medal.
His sugar maple tribute reflects his deep community roots, steady leadership, and commitment to a greener future.
