A 38-year-old Quebec man is facing charges after Lanark County OPP recovered a stolen vehicle early Saturday morning.
On July 5, 2025, just before 3:30 a.m., officers on patrol on Highway 7 received an alert from an Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) system about a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped in the Town of Perth, and further investigation confirmed it had been stolen from Collingwood.
Police arrested the driver, Mathieu Riendeau, and charged him with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Riendeau was held in custody and appeared in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
The OPP remind drivers that ALPR technology helps identify stolen vehicles and enhance road safety across Ontario highways.
