A treasured cultural tradition returns this summer as the Silver Lake Pow Wow marks its 28th year. The two-day event takes place August 23 and 24 at Silver Lake Provincial Park, just off Highway 7 between Sharbot Lake and Perth.
Organized by local volunteers, the Pow Wow draws participants from across North and South America. This year’s theme, “Honouring Our Ancestors,” will guide a weekend of Indigenous drumming, singing, dancing, traditional food, and handmade goods by Indigenous artisans.
The Silver Lake Pow Wow began in 1995 and once played a role in helping protect Silver Lake Provincial Park. Today, it continues to be a vibrant celebration of Algonquin heritage and community spirit.
Gates open at 10:00 a.m. daily with Grand Entry at noon. Admission is by donation. The event is alcohol- and drug-free and welcomes all with respect.
Camping is available onsite. Visitors are encouraged to bring feast bundles and open hearts.
