Rideau Lakes staff will be compiling a report of the Chantry office project file which dives into the timeline and how much has been actually spent.
It was put forth by Councillor Paula Banks, who said there’s been many numbers floating around, and they owe it to taxpayers to present the hard facts.
The report will feature a detailed timeline of key decisions and milestones since the initial open house at Portland Hall, an itemized account of how roughly $500,000 has been spent, and include all associated design drawings.
This request from council was made earlier this month, before Mayor Arie Hoogenboom informed council last week of his intent to implement strong mayor powers to veto the project from moving to tender a second time, which passed at their most recent meeting.
CAO Shellee Fournier said this report alongside the continued requests around this file is adding a lot of work to staff’s plate.
Fournier was responding to Councillor Duston Bulloch’s question around how much work this would require and how much they’re already doing. He requested a deferral.
Banks said she didn’t care if the report was completed this year.
Ultimately the motion passed 5-4 with Councillors Bulloch, Marcia Maxwell, Ron Pollard, and Mayor Hoogenboom opposed.
