Carleton Place back to red alert water limit

Carleton Place is urging residents to cut back on outdoor water use during the hot, dry weather as the water demand limit has reached red for the second time this summer.

Officials say high demand from lawn and garden watering is putting stress on the treatment plant, and conservation now could help avoid a full lawn-watering ban.

Watering new (un-established) lawns	Only if authorized by the Town’s Bylaw Department
Watering of gardens, planters, trees, and shrubs	Permitted if using hand nozzle or hand watering container
Filling decorative fountains, ponds, outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs	Not permitted from municipal water service. Occasional top up is permitted.
Washing down sidewalks, walkways, driveways, exterior building surfaces, or other outdoor surfaces	Not permitted unless required for health & safety purposes
Washing vehicles outdoors	Please refrain from this activity
