Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Trenton on Friday to unveil new compensation measures for Canadian Armed Forces personnel, including a retroactive base pay increase back to April 1.
Carney announced that over $9 billion will be invested in defence this year, with priorities ranging from better pay for troops to improving readiness, bolstering sovereignty, and supporting Canadian industry.
Officials say the spending will also create new career opportunities in the defence sector.
Carney said this is a pivotal moment in Canadian history.
The government says these investments will boost readiness, strengthen sovereignty, and support Canadian industry while creating new career opportunities for workers.
