The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum conducted another of their popular guiding walking tours recently, this one focused on the famous Findlay family and the homes they built and lived in.
The Findlay’s were known due to the global success of their stove foundry in Carleton Place. Museum Curator Jennifer Irwin led a group of residents and visitors down High Street the former home of the Foundry and the street that several Findlay family members resided on.
Even long-time residents learned something new about their town as one participant explained.
Another was pleased to find out that one member of his group was a direct descendant of the famous Findlay’s.
Their next jaunt is set for August 15th and your dogs are welcomed to join as Jennifer plans to sniff out some Carleton Place history in the Mill District with some educational bones on trees, trains, riots, and religion.
