Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville is looking for foster families.
Executive Director Erin Lee Marcotte says foster homes are their choice over some other common options like group home or institutional settings.
She says group care can be valuable and necessary, but they want a place where children have a sense of family as they grow up.
Today’s economic client could be seen a deterrent for many to begin fostering a child, but Karenlee Martineau, Recruitment & Assessment Worker says that doesn’t have to be the case.
Martineau says they’re looking for an established family that has the time needed to support the child. She adds they’re open to all types of loving environments.
Marcotte says child protection is everyone business, and there are families out there who may not realize they can help.
She says there are often myths associated with children in foster care, she says the positives outnumber the negatives.
Anyone who would like to explore the possibility of becoming a foster family can do so at Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville’s website found here.
