On the heels of the news that Air Canada is cancelling flights as it prepares for a possible flight attendants’ strike on Saturday, MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand-Islands and Rideau Lakes Michael Barrett says the company needs to find a solution.
“We regret the impact a disruption will have,” said Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau.
At the federal government level, Barrett adds that a change needs to be made to the Canadian Labour Code to ensure that flight attendants are paid for all of their work.
Barrett says this is extremely disruptive for people who have paid good money to travel.
The airline says passengers whose flights are cancelled will be contacted and offered full refunds. They are also working with other Canadian and international carriers to provide alternate travel options where possible.
