Lanark County OPP are investigating a George Street fire for arson which took place Thursday night.
Lanark Highlands Fire Services Chief Stephen Rothwell told myFM Friday, August 15th, they received the call at 6:10 p.m. and arrived within three minutes to find the structure fully engulfed.
Crews launched a defensive attack to protect nearby homes, containing the fire to the property and adjacent houses sustained only minor damage.
The blaze was under control by 6:56 p.m. and the scene cleared by 10:25 p.m. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.
Rothwell said Friday they were investigating the cause as none had yet been determined. The OPP announced an arson investigation Saturday.
Forty firefighters from Lanark Highlands Fire Stations 1 through 4 responded and no mutual aid was required.
