The provincial government recently announced $89 million to make permanent paramedicine programs across Ontario.
For the Lanark County Paramedic Service, it’s a sigh of relief.
Commander of the Paramedicine program Janice Steele says it’s something they’ve hoped for a while.
Steele says they take a preventative approach with their clients by visiting them before an emergency.
Steele said the future of the program was surrounded by uncertainty before this.
The service doesn’t know the exact dollar figure they’ll be receiving yet but Steele anticipates that to be announced around the new year.
