The federal government’s announced a $748 million commitment through the Canada Community-Building Fund to Ontario municipalities including Lanark County and Leeds & Grenville. The fund replaces the now defunct Gas Tax Fund.
Smiths Falls is set to receiving a tick over $606,000 from the feds, with the stated aim of the funding to boost both critical and recreational infrastructure.
The Town of Perth is receiving just over $211,000.
Other local recipients include:
- Lanark County – $2.178 million
- Carleton Place – $409,933.32
- Montague Township – $128,183.99
- Tay Valley Township – $194,044.49
- Village of Westport – $20,763.58
The announcement came during the annual AMO conference, where municipal leaders gather in Ottawa to lobby for local issues.
