The Mississippi River Health Alliance has elected Michel G. Vermette as Chair of its Allied Boards of Directors. The boards oversee Almonte General Hospital, Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, Fairview Manor, and the Lanark County Paramedic Service.
Vermette succeeds Lyman Gardiner, who led the boards for the past two years and will continue as Past Chair. Vermette brings nearly 40 years of public service leadership experience, including senior roles in the Canadian federal government and not-for-profit organizations. He joined the Almonte General Hospital Board in 2019 and the Allied Boards in 2022.
In his new role, Vermette says he looks forward to working with board members, hospital leadership and community partners to strengthen services and improve access to care.
