
A serious four-vehicle collision on Highway 7 east of Maberly early Friday morning has left two people dead and two others critically injured.
The deceased, a 59-year-old woman and 46-year-old man from Ottawa, were travelling in the same vehicle. Two others were airlifted to a regional trauma centre, one taken to an Ottawa hospital, and another to a local hospital. Two additional people sustained minor injuries.
Emergency crews, including Lanark County OPP, paramedics, and Drummond-North Elmsley-Tay Valley Fire Rescue, responded shortly after 3 a.m. The crash involved two transport trucks, a pick-up truck, and an SUV. Initial reports indicate the trucks and SUV were eastbound, while the pick-up was westbound.
Highway 7 remains closed between County Road 36 and County Road 511.
