The design of the veterans crosswalk coming to Carleton Place.
At the recent meeting of Carleton Place Council’s committee, Father David Andrew, Padre for the Town’s branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, brought forward a proposal for a crosswalk painting to honour military veterans.
He noted the Town’s heritage of sacrifice that drove the request.
The painting and its symbolism, made up of alternating red and white stripes, was explained by Father David.
Council approved the installation across Franklin Street east of its intersection with Beckwith Street, with full costs, including maintenance to be born by the Legion branch. It’s expected to be in place before this year’s Remembrance Day.
