
Communities across Lanark County and Leeds Grenville are adjusting fire bans as extreme fire danger remains in parts of the region.
According to the ministry’s forest fire information map, Arnprior, Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills are under an extreme fire danger rating.
Carleton Place lifted its open-air burning ban August 29, but residents must follow bylaw 21-2004. Mississippi Mills eased its total ban to Level 3 – High Risk on August 28, allowing open-air burning with caution.
North Grenville still has a total burn ban from July 29. Drummond/North Elmsley and Tay Valley have a Level 3 full fire ban from August 10.
Beckwith downgraded its fire ban to allow small campfires only, effective August 29.
Smiths Falls, Lanark County (including Perth), and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville remain under total fire bans.
Officials urge caution and compliance with local bylaws to prevent wildfires.
