Artist rendition of what the new Confederation Bridge will look like.
The old Confederation Bridge was removed August 15th.
Smiths Falls Director of Public Works and Utilities Paul McMunn went over the day.
McMunn said there were some higher rock elevations than anticipated when it comes to laying the foundation for the new bridge, but nothing too severe.
He noted the material for the new bridge is on its way here.
That process will take a couple of months with the install date expected to be early November.
On the date of the installation, a 500 tonne crane will pick up the completed bridge and put it into place.
