A routine motion for the naming of two new streets in the Perthmore subdivision brought a more extended discussion at a Perth council committee meeting in August.
Councillor Gary Waterfield pointed out an omission in the Town’s current list of street names.
He stated that the lack of Indigenous signs made the land acknowledgement adopted by council without meaning.
When he reviewed the current street-naming bylaw he found it lacking.
Staff member Joanna Bowes agreed with Gary’s view of the current bylaw and said bringing an updated version for council’s review this fall was in her plans.
