The historic waterfront village of Chaffeys Lock will host the Economic Developers Council of Ontario’s (EDCO) Eastern Region Professional Development Event on October 2, 2025.
The Township of Rideau Lakes, in partnership with The Opinicon, successfully applied to bring the provincial gathering to the community. About 50 to 70 delegates are expected to attend.
The event is supported by KEYS Employment and Newcomer Services, Valley Heartland Community Futures Corporation, ontrac Employment Resource Services, and Leeds Grenville Economic Development. To showcase the area, LeBoat and Queen’s University Biological Station will provide mini-tours of the Rideau Canal and Canada’s largest herbarium, paired with a culinary experience at The Opinicon dining room.
Session topics will include Canada’s largest rail trail loop development project, workforce development, agri-food, and the border effect.
Registration for the event is now open.
