A local group of seniors is joining a worldwide effort this September to demand action on climate change.
Seniors for Climate (Perth) will host a Draw the Line event on Friday, Sept. 19, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Highway 7 and Wilson Street. The gathering is part of a global mobilization happening Sept. 19-21 to push for an end to the use of fossil fuels.
Organizers say residents who have experienced wildfire smoke, high winds, derechos, Lyme disease, heat waves, hailstorms, torrential rain or frequent power outages have already faced the effects of climate change.
The group says seniors feel a responsibility to act as they watch the future of their children and grandchildren threatened by a warming planet.
Seniors for Climate encourages everyone to attend the Perth event to show support for climate action.
