The proposed design of a new public works garage in Perth.
At an August Town of Perth committee meeting staff presented drawings and cost estimates for a new public works garage to be located immediately behind the current facility on Sunset Blvd.
The Town’s Cathy McNally laid out the timeline for the project.
The current 70 year old building’s secondary level was deemed unusable due to building code issues in 2022. The proposal was for a new single-storey facility with truck bays, an indoor vehicle wash bay, offices, a meeting room, gender-friendly washrooms and storage.
Cathy cautioned that the plans were preliminary and cost estimates had built-in allowances for changes.
The proposed expenses didn’t include demolition of the existing garage which part of may be retained for storage or other uses.
The committee approved sending the plans out for tender pricing.
