Rideau Lakes Integrity Commissioner Ellen Fry is currently investigating nine complaints against members of council, according to a status update sent to Clerk Mary Ellen Truelove.
Fry said she had been reviewing 11 complaints, but two were withdrawn in August, leaving nine active investigations.
Under the township’s Code of Conduct, the Integrity Commissioner is expected to issue findings within 90 days of a complaint being filed.
However, Fry advised she will not be able to meet that deadline in five cases.
She cited efficiency and scheduling challenges as reasons for the delay, noting that eight individuals needed to be interviewed for multiple complaints.
Rather than conduct several rounds of interviews, Fry chose to consolidate them, which pushed back the timelines. Summer vacation schedules also slowed the process.
The details around what Fry is investigating in each complaint will not be made public until her findings are submitted to council at the appropriate meeting.
Fry expects to file the final reports for all April complaints, along with one June complaint, by September 9.
The remaining June investigations are scheduled to be completed by September 22.
