At Mississippi Mills recent council meeting, a developer requested relief from the Mill’s water allocation policy to permit a car-wash.
The proposal would see a McDonald’s restaurant, a gas station/convenience store, a quick lube facility and a car-wash adjacent to the traffic circle in Almonte.
Bylaws won’t permit car-washes due to their high water and sewage demand as the Mills currently has limited supply capacity.
The developer’s agent said they were willing to work with the Town by limiting car-wash hours of operation and recycling water to reduce demand.
They noted the entire project could provide up to 65 new jobs.
Council received the report and suggested the applicant work with staff to hopefully resolve the issue.
The Mills determines its annual allocation of capacity for new developments during the first quarter.
