Here’s how physician recruitment is going in Perth and Smiths Falls

Physician Recruiter at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Carlene MacDonald provided an update last week at Smiths Falls council.

She told the horseshoe there’s two Canadian physicians coming back from the US to work locally.

MacDonald also went over their needs for 2026.

She also provided a rundown on emergency department staff.

MacDonald said about 7% of emergency department visits include individuals without a family physician.

Council thanked MacDonald for providing the report.
