With low rain levels this year, many homes that depend on wells for their water supply have experienced problems with volume and quality. Curtis Pilon of Valley Plumbing Heating and Water Treatment says there’s a great free online starting point for concerned homeowners looking for solutions.
Curtis reminds everyone that well water testing should be an annual affair.
Private well water testing for bacterial organisms is provided free of charge by Public Health Ontario. Curtis notes that development activity in your neighbourhood could lead to water problems.
For chemical or metal contamination in well water, private labs must be used. To check on your well’s original rating go to ontario.ca/page/map-well-records.
