LanarkLeedsToday.ca’s weekly series on keeping Intimate Partner Violence in community conversation continues.
This week, to mark the National Day of Truth and Reconcilliation, we welcome Roberta Della Picca, Indigenous community member and advocate to speak about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Girls and 2 Spirited individuals.
Ten years ago, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission issued 94 calls to action, including action on MMIWG2S. Picca says action since then varies from community to community.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says something has to change when so many of the missing women are presumed murdered, based on racism and discrimination.
The entire podcast, “Silence Broken: Continuing the Conversation around Intimate Partner Violence,” can be listened too below. New episodes are released Friday mornings.
