The Royal Canadian Legion in Smiths Falls is serving up Fish and Chips Night this Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at 7 Main Street East. Meals are $15 for one piece, with extra fish available for $10.
Carleton Place Pumpkinfest Weekend is taking off with free hot air balloon rides Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. at Woolgrowers field, weather permitting. Thanks go to Laura Keller Real Estate Team and CCWG Limited–Real Wool Shop for making it happen.
In Perth, the Curling Club is marking its 150th anniversary with “150 Ends” of continuous play all weekend. Celebrations include a silent auction, skills competitions, pancake breakfast, raffle, and a Sunday luncheon.
Also Saturday, the Smiths Falls Cruise Night season finale takes over Settlers Ridge Centre from noon to 3 p.m., featuring classic vehicles, family fun, and a barbecue. Oktoberfest follows at The Tap Room from 2 to 10 p.m., with live music, games for charity, sausages, and drinks from 4 Degrees Brewing and Distilling.
The Mighty Machines event rolls into Montague Airport at 11 a.m. with a $5 entry that includes a hot dog and drink. Kids under two get in free.
Art lovers can take in The Big Art Walk downtown Smiths Falls at 11 a.m., showcasing 36 art banners, live music, and local artists. Tickets are $10 and limited to 150.
Music fans can catch Stephen Hardy Palmer in concert at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Smiths Falls at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, with kids under 12 free.
South Sherbrooke Fire Station hosts its open house Saturday morning from 8 to noon on Highway 7 in Maberly. Visitors can celebrate Fire Prevention Week, tour the station, and get a close-up look at the trucks.
The Rideau Canal Cloggers are hosting their second annual workshop at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Smiths Falls starting at 9 a.m. Registration is $30, spectators $10, and lunch is included.
In Perth, a Sisters in Spirit Vigil begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Indigenous Healing Circle in Last Dual Park. The ceremony, led by local Indigenous leaders, honours MMIWG2S, and everyone is welcome.
Perth’s River Resonance choir teams up with Ottawa’s Capital Chamber Choir for a 3 p.m. concert at St. Paul’s United Church. The program, called Northern Elements, features contemporary choral works.
In Plevna, the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust hosts Notes for Nature III at Clar-Mill Hall, with live music by TRiPOD and Six Pack in support of local conservation.
Carleton Place is also hosting its second annual 5K run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featuring a silent auction, obstacle course, and fundraising for Lanark County Interval House.
Wrapping things up, the Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum celebrates Fall Fest on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include wagon rides, vendors, a petting zoo, live music, food, kids’ activities, and museum tours by donation.

In the CCHL: Smiths Falls heads to Kemptville Sunday for a game at 2:00pm. The Carleton Place Canadians are off until Sunday when they welcome Hawkesbury.
EOJHL play has Carleton Place head to Glengarry to take on the Brigade at 8:00, while Smiths Falls welcomes Athens at 7:30.
