Smiths Falls is inviting residents to the 14th Annual Heritage Symposium on Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 46 Russell St. W., a designated heritage property.

As Councillor Dawn Quinn says, the event, titled Old Homes, New Perspectives: Changing the Way We See Residential Heritage, will have expert opinion on hand.
Among those speaking, Andrew Jeanes, Cultural Consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, who will address myths about owning a heritage home, including maintenance and renovations.
Grenke will also speak, and explain the Heritage Alteration Permit process and ways the town simplifies repairs and updates.
Attendees can also hear from owners of Soper House, Jonathan Giles House, and The Livery, gaining firsthand insights into caring for a community gem.
