‘Twas the season: The Thanksgiving long weekend see the close of the Rideau Canal on the Thanksgiving Holiday Monday.
Other local warm-month attractions are also closing, or already closed for the season.
Drummond/North Elmsley reports the end of the season at the Rideau Ferry Docks. The public washrooms at the sight will be closed too.
As for the Rideau Canal, the final boats will pass through at 5pm this coming Monday, October 13th.
There are some things to keep in mind.
At lockstations with one lock, boaters must arrive at the designated blue line 30 minutes before closing.
For lockstations with more than one lock, boaters need 30 minutes per lock chamber. So if there are three locks, arrive 90 minutes before closing.
At swing bridges like Old Slys and Abbot Street in Smiths Falls, boaters must arrive 20 minutes before closing.
Traffic numbers for the season aren’t expected for a while yet.
All involved thank boaters for a great season.
