The Township of Rideau Lakes says all council and committee of the whole meetings will be held virtually until further notice following safety concerns at Monday’s council session.
The move comes on the advice of the township’s joint health and safety committee under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, after the Oct. 6 meeting became unsafe.
Police were called, and staff exercised their right to refuse work under OHSA provisions.
Officials say the shift to virtual meetings is a precaution to protect the safety of staff, councillors and the public while the situation is reviewed.
Information on how to access future online meetings will be posted at rideaulakes.ca
The township thanked residents for their understanding and cooperation during the transition.
