The Rideau Valley Water Response Team is maintaining a Level 3 Low Water Advisory across the Rideau Valley watershed, despite recent rainfall. Officials say dry conditions persist, with rainfall and groundwater levels well below normal and streamflows reaching record lows in some areas.
Residents are encouraged to take action to help conserve water. Those on private wells should use water sparingly, fix leaks, and avoid unnecessary outdoor use. Permit holders who draw large amounts of water are urged to reduce their intake wherever possible.
Municipal water users are advised to follow local updates for any restrictions. Residents can also conserve by shortening showers, delaying lawn watering, and collecting rainwater for outdoor use.
Although this is not an emergency, the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says conserving water now can help protect lakes, rivers, wetlands, and groundwater systems until conditions return to normal.
