Carleton Place staff delivered some bad news last week on the Town’s plans to install an accessible ramp to the front entrance of the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum. Ross Rankin said the consultant’s report revealed a Hydro One standard regarding the proximity of active lines to any new construction.
He proposed an alternative design for the front entrance, which wouldn’t accommodate wheelchairs but would be helpful for those with mobility issues.
Councillor Linda Seccaspina noted the frequency of complaints she receives on the front steps.
Council’s committee approved investigating the costs of replacing the front steps and reviewing possible improvements to the parking lot entrance at the rear of the building.
