Southeast Public Health (SEPH) has identified infection prevention and control concerns at Ivy Beauty Bar on McNeely Avenue in Carleton Place.
The health unit says clients who received manicure, pedicure or waxing services between May 31, 2023 and October 17, 2025, may have been exposed to equipment that was not properly cleaned and disinfected.
While SEPH says the risk of infection is low, improperly sanitized tools can potentially transmit blood-borne infections such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and, to a lesser extent, HIV. No cases of illness have been linked to the salon.
The business has since taken corrective measures and now meets all infection prevention and control standards required to operate safely.
SEPH recommends that anyone who received these services during the identified time period consult a health-care provider to discuss personal risk and consider testing.
“Although the risk of infection is low in this case, we want to urge any person who may have been exposed to infection to speak with a health-care provider and to pursue testing, if recommended,” said Dr. Ethan Toumishey, Deputy Medical Officer of Health.
More details, including SEPH’s IPAC Lapse Report and FAQs, are available on the health unit’s website.
